Marielle’s grandmother had impeccable taste and an amazing closet full of clothes, shoes and jewellery that she so lovingly kept. Although she is no longer with us, her style lives on thanks to her daughter and grand-daughters who do not let her treasures sit idly in the closet.
I was ecstatic when one day Marielle said to me, “I was at my grandparents place last night, and found this dress. I think it was from Paris and it’s really poofy.” Well, that may not be exactly what she said but I knew it was all going to turn into something very pretty when the word poofy was uttered. I had been dying to photograph a coloured gown, especially a poofy one and had been really wanting to also try a sock bun. I think they’re so sophisticated and beautiful and Marielle’s grandmother’s dress was the perfect opportunity to pull a few little ideas together.
Upon arriving at Marielle’s home the day of the shoot, I found that the blue dress was just the beginning – Marielle’s mother had a few more ideas to share and the gorgeous blush tiered gown appeared. It was then I knew we had to do two looks that day in the hills.
Thank goodness everyone was on board and thank goodness they didn’t mind walking over hills and valleys carrying three foot balloons covered in lace and dragging bags of cameras and props. Such a great team.
Thanks to Marielle, Elise, Catalina, Robyn, Erin and of course Marielle’s grandmother for making these pretty pictures possible.

What a gorgeous shoot! I love the cream gown – could definitely picture that on a red carpet. Beautiful Anne. -Lauren
Thank you Lauren! I could see it on the red carpet too! I should really find out who made that gown 🙂 So pretty.
Absolutely Stunning Marielle! Your grandmother would be so proud of you!
